About the heatmap

The heatmap visualizes short-selling metrics across the whole US market at a glance. Tile size and color reflect the selected metric — short % of float, cost to borrow, short volume ratio, or squeeze score — so heavily shorted pockets of the market stand out immediately.

Frequently asked questions

What does the heatmap show?

Each tile is a stock, colored and sized by the selected short-selling metric such as short % of float, cost to borrow, or squeeze score. It provides a market-wide view of where short pressure is concentrated.

How current is the heatmap data?

Cost-to-borrow data refreshes throughout each trading session, short volume updates daily, and short interest updates twice monthly per FINRA's publication schedule.

Data sources: FINRA (short interest, Reg SHO short volume), Interactive Brokers (cost to borrow), SEC EDGAR (Form 4, 13F, DEF 14A). See our methodology and data sources. Not investment advice — see disclaimer.
