About the screener
The screener above filters more than 40,000 US-listed stocks by short interest, short percentage of float, days to cover, cost to borrow, daily short volume, finshort's proprietary Short Pressure and other scores, and more. Every column is sortable, and filters can be combined to find setups like high short interest with rising borrow fees.
Frequently asked questions
What is short percent of float?
Short % of float is short interest divided by the number of shares available for public trading. It is the most common way to gauge how crowded the short side is: above 10% is notable, above 20% is very high.
What is days to cover?
Days to cover (short interest ratio) is short interest divided by average daily trading volume. It estimates how many days of normal volume it would take for all short sellers to buy back their positions — higher values mean more potential fuel for a squeeze.
What is the Squeeze Score?
A 0-100 composite score of short squeeze potential combining short % of float, days to cover, cost to borrow, borrow rate momentum, borrow rate persistence, and short interest change. The formula is published on the finshort methodology page.
